VIDEO ALT TEXT & IMAGES:
‘Tis the month we’ll have Christmas, and right now in the House
Social Services select committee have recently announced
Submissions have been read and a schedule’s being planned
For Supporters to call on the Government to expand
The Accessibility for New Zealanders Bill, ‘cause supporters all know
That it won’t remove barriers and there’s a long way to go.
Standards, a regulator and enforceability not included
Without these key factors, Kiwis are still excluded
From buildings and transport, jobs and education
From websites, goods, services and information.
So as we hang up our stockings for Santa this year
‘Champions for Accessibility’ wishes are clear
Please give us a framework that will clear the way
So that people with disabilities don’t battle every day
The frustration and struggles of just getting around
To go out shopping or move about town.
We’ll be voicing our submissions this month and Feb 23
And visiting our MPs to make sure that they see
Our society needs to be accessible, for one and for all
And the right way to do it is through effective law.
So please sign our petition to strengthen the Bill
And call on the Government for a law that really will
Remove access barriers, with standards to provide
“Access All Areas”, NOT access denied!
