I live in Ponsonby where many of the buildings don’t have lifts.
I have always struggled with stairs, particularly steep staircases.
I have even had to change my dentist as I can no longer access his office which is up a flight of stairs.
I believe accessibility legislation would make it a requirement that dentists, doctors, counsellors and similar professionals must have fully accessible office premises.
This is my access story, it is one of many. I'm sharing it because I want a law that puts accessibility at the heart of an inclusive Aotearoa New Zealand.
