I received an email from a business advertising a product with the subject line "The New Device is Here! Sensibo AirQ Launch". That was the only accessible part of the email.
I know why I got the email, but as emails go, what it doesn’t tell me is so vast that if the company actually relied on it to sell a product, they’d fail miserably!
There was no attempt to make the email accessible, and so the business missed out on potential sale.
The new access laws should make sure all websites and mobile apps comply with the international Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
This is a story about the barriers many face. We're sharing it because we want a law that puts accessibility at the heart of an inclusive Aotearoa New Zealand.
