#AccessDeniedDiaries by Blessing

We went to Keith Hay Park but I couldn't play with my siblings because my wheelchair can't get into the playground. This is because there is a wooden barrier around the entire playground. I had to sit in my wheelchair and watch my siblings play.

I experience this a lot at so many playgrounds in New Zealand. It makes me really sad because I always miss out when we go to the park.

I want the government to fix our laws so that all playgrounds are accessible.

Kids with disabilities want to play too.

(Also, I wish every playground had a wheelchair swing!)

This is a story about the barriers many face. We're sharing it because we want a law that puts accessibility at the heart of an inclusive Aotearoa New Zealand.
