The Access Matters Aotearoa Trust is incorporated in New Zealand under the Charitable Trust Act 1957 and registered under the Charities Act 2005 (registration number CC61240).

Our Trustees

Amy is a Trust Co-Chair and has over 20 years’ experience implementing and overseeing national disability research projects as a researcher, analyst, writer, and advocate, focusing on health and social justice. She also brings her unique combination of personal and professional experience to wider international forums. Amy lives with cerebral palsy (CP) and has incorporated her day-to-day experience into her work at the Cerebral Palsy Society of New Zealand, where she has developed and applied research, policy advocacy, system change and advocacy. Amy has a First Class Honors Masters in Psychology.

Chrissie is of Ngāti Kahungunu and Ngāti Porou descent, and is Chief Executive of Kāpō Māori Aotearoa New Zealand Inc., a member-based society open to all people: disabled, able-bodied, Māori and Non-Māori. In 2020 she was a finalist in the Community Hero category of the Women of Influence Awards, and was also recognised as one of 100 Māori Leaders for her transformative work in the disability sector. Chrissie was awarded the Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) in the New Year 2026 Honours List for services to Māori, particularly blind and low vision people. Chrissie is also a trustee of Eye Health Aotearoa.

John is passionate about building organisational cultures which are defined by achievement and success. He has spent over 33 years in the not-for-profit/charitable sectors in both Canada and Aotearoa New Zealand. Recent roles include Chief Executive Officer at Blind Low Vision NZ, Regional Vice President at CNIB Western Canada and Executive Lead with CNIB Guide Dogs. John is currently the Executive Director of Osteoporosis New Zealand and is also a trustee of Eye Health Aotearoa.

Rebekah (Pākehā) is a Trust Co-Chair and is the National Executive Director for Parents of Vision Impaired NZ, a consumer group supported by Blind Low Vision NZ. In this role, Rebekah advocates strongly and consistently for inclusion, accessibility, and support for all, with a focus on parents/whānau of vision impaired children. A registered community psychologist, Rebekah has academic research interests in the area of food insecurity, disability, health, and community resilience.
