Founding and Supporting Organisations

Access Matters Aotearoa emerged from the Access Alliance which was formed in 2017 with strong support from the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind. A group of passionate Disabled People’s Organisations, Service Providers, and Advocacy Organisations, the founding members of the Access Alliance helped unite Kiwis for a better Aotearoa New Zealand and set the platform for the current Access Matters Campaign.

Statement of Support and Commitment

We support Access Matters Aotearoa in the call for robust and enforceable accessibility legislation in Aotearoa New Zealand. We believe all New Zealanders should be able to fully participate, engage with, work for, and use the services of our organisations irrespective of any access needs.

We acknowledge that we also need to engage with people with disabilities to make our organisations and services accessible. We commit to initiating or continuing this conversation.

Together, we can create an accessible and inclusive country where people with disabilities or access needs can thrive as citizens and community members.
