#AccessDeniedDiaries by Lyn

I have taken all my pets to my local vet practice for the last 30 years. I recently requested that a front door access ramp be provided, but they fobbed me off.

The vets told me there is suitable access via the back door of the clinic, and if I call ahead they will arrange for me to enter that way. I am a loyal customer and now I can't get into the building, because I can't get my mobility walker up the three steps to the front door.

There is ample room to install a ramp on the property, but they don't seem to be willing. I really want to take this further, but I don't have the confidence to take them on.

The new accessibility legislation should set the expectations and provide the support needed for everyone to have access to goods and services, like access to my local vet practice.
