Chrissie Cowan Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit Investiture

We’re thrilled to recognise Chrissie Cowan on her investiture of the New Zealand Order of Merit on 9 April 2026.
Access Matters Aotearoa is proud to have Chrissie as a board member and to see her outstanding dedication to the disability sector honoured, especially her powerful work supporting blind and low-vision Māori communities.
Chrissie is pictured alongside David Corner, who was also recognised for his tireless advocacy for people with intellectual disabilities.
David recently inspired audiences as a speaker at the Accessible Futures Summit in Wellington — a true champion for inclusion and change.
Huge congratulations to both Chrissie and David on these well-deserved honours. Your leadership is helping shape a more accessible and equitable Aotearoa New Zealand.
